You board at the Karaköy pier and push out into the strait as the sun goes down behind the old city — Hagia Sophia and the Süleymaniye dark against a copper sky, the two bridges starting to glow overhead. Dinner is served on deck as the boat cruises past Dolmabahçe Palace, the Ortaköy mosque under the first bridge, and the lit-up waterfront of Bebek. By the time dessert comes round the city is fully lit and the party has warmed up.
The kitchen sends out a set menu — Turkish meze to start, a hot main, then fruit and sweets — with soft drinks included and a bar if you want one. Then the entertainment begins: live musicians and a folk-dance troupe, and before long half the deck is up dancing.
