Full-Day Bosphorus & Black Sea Cruise

The Bosphorus from end to end — all the way up to where it opens into the Black Sea. A full day on the water with a lunch stop at the fishing village of Anadolu Kavağı and time ashore before the run back.

from €55 per guest · full day Full day Shared or private

All the way to the Black Sea

Most cruises turn back at the second bridge; this one keeps going. You sail the whole strait past the palaces of the lower Bosphorus, under both suspension bridges, past the Rumeli and Anadolu fortresses and the villages of Emirgan, Yeniköy and Sarıyer, to the point where the channel widens and the open Black Sea shows ahead. The shores turn green and steep, the yalı mansions give way to fishing harbours, and the water changes colour.

Lunch and a village stop

The boat ties up at Anadolu Kavağı, a fishing village under a ruined Byzantine castle, with a couple of hours ashore. Climb to the Yoros fortress for the view over the Black Sea mouth, or settle into a quayside restaurant for grilled fish and meze before the cruise back down the strait. Bring walking shoes and a jacket — the top of the strait runs cooler and breezier than the city.

Good for

Travellers with a day to spare who want the whole strait, not just the postcard stretch.

Questions

Good to know

How long is the full-day cruise?

Most of the day — a morning departure from Karaköy, several hours sailing up and back, and a couple of hours ashore at Anadolu Kavağı. You are back in the city by late afternoon or early evening.

Is lunch included?

Lunch ashore is not in the base seat price, so you can pick your own restaurant in the village. We are glad to reserve a fish lunch, or add catering on a private charter.

What is there to do at Anadolu Kavağı?

It is a small fishing village with quayside seafood restaurants and a steep walk up to the ruined Yoros fortress, which looks out over the mouth of the Black Sea.

Can we do it privately?

Yes — the whole yacht can be chartered for the day, with your own timing and a lunch stop of your choosing. Ask for a full-day quote.
